Tom having a friendly chat with Grant Batty

I was born 2nd April 1948, thankfully not the previous day. My formative years were spent at Hawthorn Secondary modern school, Pontypridd. Where my love for sport was devleoped by my sports master Mr Glyn Williams. In all aspects of life you need luck on your side, I have been lucky to have been in the right place at the right time on so many occassions.

A question I get asked regularly is would I like to be playing in the modern professional game. The answer is always an ephatic yes, although I would of added a contractual clause allowing me to have the occasional burger & chips! Another popular question is what is the difference playing in the 70's and now, simple answer, I never paid Tax!
